Response / Reflection

I’m going to tell you what I thought about this book and why I liked it. The book I read was called A Way of Escape and was located mainly in Romania, Austria, and Yugoslavia. This book really gave me a better prospective on what communist really is and how it can really affect a country. The part that was crazy to me was, when the communist people made Christians look like they were out casts, and did not really care much about them. It really affected this family in many ways like, work, keeping the Sabbath, and be able to spread Gods word without getting in trouble for it.
The story also showed me that with the power of believing and having faith you can do anything with God, which is amazing in itself. They showed it many times in this story, when he was running through the night and having to put your life in God’s hands, while they were passing Guards, Dogs, and watch towers. There was one major thing that really had to be God! They were just about to come up to the border, when all the sudden they came up to the Border Control Headquarters, and barely squeezed bye. When they thought they had gone through everything they came up a spot where there was a line of large bond fires burning away. There was no way around the fires, so they had to go right by the light of the fire. They got started, and could feel the warmth of the fire on their faces as they went by and had almost pasted the light of the fire. As they were leaving the area of the bond fires two guards came out behind them out of no were, but luckily God was on their side, and the guards did not see them!

Spirituality in this book

In my book the religion for the main family is Christan ,and to be more specific they are Seventh Day Adventist. They make God more realistic in a way , because they show how God is really intervening in there journey of getting free.I will tell you a couple of ideas that they showed lots of faith and trust in God. First it talks allot about Doru getting into allot of situations that made it hard to keep the sabbath and have a job at the same time. In a communist country people are very against you just because of your faith, which makes it very hard to make a living at anything. When Doru was older he had to join the Romania Army , which also made it very hard to keep the sabbath.Luckily God gave him a job in the army were he could keep the sabbath.

Poem

"Crossing the Border"

Their journey of crossing the border starts out with Doru and his two friends,
they get into a car, and drop off into a field.
They grab their bags and were gone in a flash ,into theh corn fields.
All the sudden they heard a farmer out in his yard,
so they hit the ground in alarm thinking they had already been caught.
Luckily he just went back into his home and they went on with their jounrney across the border.
After a while of close calls and longs days of sitting  the hot sun and hidding from people.
Waking up at night and haveing to run thorugh the moon lite night.
They came up to a WATCH TOWER,
which had some huge fires burning right next to it.
They had to get around the light of the fire,
which was also right in front of the headquarters of the Romaina border.
Had tons of guards all around it,
so they got around that and when they had though they gotten around the tower and headquarter tower.
They were stopped in their tracks ,
because all the sudden their were two guards walking right by them.
Luckily God was on their side ,
and basically made them disappear in the night!

Potentail movie

"Crossing over Dangerous Borders"

This movie would be a documentary about Doru Tarita and his family , and would focus on there whole life story and what hardships they went through. It would show how he and one of his other friend relied some much on God through there journey. It would also show you the main parts like going  across the border , when they got to the next country. The movie would cost 20 million dollars to make and would be filmed in Romania , Austria , and Yugoslavia. It would be this price because it is a documentary , which are cheaper than normal action pack movies. My movie would be be about two hours long , because I would have half of it be people telling the story with some small clips in between there talks. The other half would be them reenacting the most important parts like getting over the border and really close calls that they had getting to freedom. It would be rated PG-13, because the second half of the movie shows the crossing of the border, Which will have some foul language from the guards around them while crossing the boarder. I would try to get Doru and his family ,but if not I would hire some cheaper unknown actors to do the second half . The first part of the movie i would have a unknown actor to narrator it.The movie would be filmed as a documentary as i previously just said ,but the second half of the movie would have a little more action , which would make it a different type of filming .

Romania Geography

This story took place in  Romania , and  I am going to tell you what its geography was like in the 1984. Their weather is hot and damp , and Romania is in Southeastern Europe, bordering the Black Sea, between Bulgaria and Ukraine. The country is about 238,400 square kilometers . When Doru went to go over the border to get out of Romaine, he went through two other countries called Austria and Yugoslavian . Austria is a country full of Large mountains , which are the Alps . The northern and eastern part is mostly composed of flat areas ,with patches of trees. Yugoslavian is the country that is right next to the Romania. Is the country that they first went through to get to Austria , and was not to safe for them. If they had gotten caught in Yugoslavian they could have still been sent  back to Romania.
